Accusation On Amazon Of Giving Special Treatment To Apple By FTC
Amazon gives princess treatment to Apple brand.
The federal agency known as the Federal Trade Commission is accusing Amazon of giving special treatment to the Apple company and letting them post all types of ads on Amazon even if it is a total junk or not related to anything. Amazon is giving a special side to Apple and also keeping them relatively clear of unrelated ads, signifying an arrangement between companies, according to Insider.

In the beginning, Amazon was just a book-selling company which is used to sell books but with time it has become the world’s largest internet-based business enterprise platform which majorly focuses on providing e-commerce, digital streaming, and cloud computing services.

According to the situation in which Amazon is giving a special place to Apple, the Federal Trade Commission filed an antitrust lawsuit against the e-commerce retailers just because of this special treatment.
They filed a case against Amazon in September in which they accused Amazon of “ deliberately increasing junk ads that worsen search quality”.
This was the accusation by FTC, but surprisingly the insider said that the pages available for Apple products like iPhone or iPad show a clean page layout with no extra ads or recommendations.
Products are available on other brand pages like Samsung Galaxy, Microsoft Surface, and all other shows multiple banner ads, and some sponsored recommendations from other brands.
Despite all this, FTC has accused amazon without any investigations. If you look by yourself, you will find Apple’s product pages clearer as compared to any other. However Microsoft Surface Pro’s showed a carousel of sponsored listings like “4 stars and above”, also with a lot of products related to specific items and multiple ads.
It was also heard that Apple itself asked Amazon in 2018 to clear out its product pages and make them ads-free, it was said based on an email shared by the House Judiciary Committee.
Jeff Wilke, CEO of Amazon Retail said, “We understand that Apple does not want to drive sales to competing brands in search or detail pages”.
Appl accepted that they signed a contract with Amazon that prevents other companies from buying ads for specific Apple-related brand queries.
We can’t say that the accusation made by FTC is completely wrong, but if you don’t know anything in detail or just visit apple’s product page then you will say that this accusation is wrong. On the other hand, apple made a contract with Amazon to make their product pages look clearer.
