Today we have selected Donald Kim to take his Interview. He is the Founder of Optimized Webmedia Marketing.

First of all, how are you and your team doing in these COVID-19 times?

We are doing great – we have quickly adapted to the rapidly changing landscape and marketplace. Our entire team is now working entirely remotely – our workflows, processes have gotten stronger. We have adjusted from face-to-face to online meetings, as well as adopted improved efficiencies by embracing digital transformation and technologies.

Tell us about you, your career, how you founded or joined this company.

While in MBA business grad school and obtaining my PMP (Project Management Professional designation), I had the pleasure of working with the VP Sales & Marketing and CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) of a tech SaaS startup, where I got deep into data and results-driven demand generation and digital marketing, as well as gotten valuable experience utilizing the best marketing tech stacks, such as marketing automation and CRM, to help drive up the ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue). We had amazing results and success and had brought in strategic Venture Capitalists (VC’s) from Silicon Valley, as well as many Enterprise level clients. This was my first taste of full-scale strategic marketing and implementation.

Started as a side-hustle back in 2013, I was initially providing WordPress Website Design and Social Media Marketing consulting services for small projects. Since then, Optimized Webmedia Marketing quickly became the go-to experts for Website Design and Digital Marketing, including SEO, Google AdWords PPC, Social Media Marketing and Advertising, as well as Content Writing/ Copywriting.

We have since grown our internal team, our client base (servicing clients in Canada and the US, with aspirations of expanding internationally), and we are also recipients of numerous Top Digital Marketing & Advertising Awards.

How does your company innovate?

Our company innovates through continual iterative process innovations and ongoing training. We embrace the necessary digital technologies and digital transformation.

We are continually finding ways to refine our internal processes so that we can drive and deliver maximum results for our clients. We create SOP’s, and internal training documents and videos, to help with cross-training, and onboarding new staff. We want to ensure that our team has access to the best resources and tools.

How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?

Business is stable, strong, and growing. We are adding to our service offerings, and growing our team.

Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?

We quickly adapted early into the pandemic, where we enabled all of our staff to work from home.

Some important lessons learned are to take a proactive approach to evolve and adapt to any challenges that arise. Also, adopting and leveraging some of the great online resources and tools that are now readily available is key to effective communication and project management within our team.

What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?

We are fully set up for remote working success – we utilize a variety of technology stacks to help manage communications, workflows, deliverables, project scope, and overall project management.

  • We actively use G Suite products (Docs, Sheets, Slides).

  • Collaboration tools include Zoom, Slack, Google Chat, and Google Hangouts.

  • Proprietary and industry-standard software tools for SEO, Advertising, and Digital Marketing.

  • Online Project Management Software.

Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?

Other agencies would be our competitors. However, we have amazing reviews from our clients that help set us apart from the other agencies. We have also entered into other synergistic areas of service offerings such as Amazon Marketing Management, as well as a Digital Marketing Academy (online).

We strive to put customers first, by implementing effective strategies, reporting, and harnessing data to drive optimal results for our clients. We are also keen on continually adding the best of the best, top talented, and high-performing team members to our agency.

Additionally, we have a fairly rigorous process for onboarding both SEO (onsite, on-page, and off-site SEO), Advertising (PPC), Social Media, and/or Digital Marketing clients.
