The worldwide data from LinkedIn demonstrates that management (ranked second globally) and communication (ranked fourth globally) are also crucial for brands, underscoring the importance of people skills, especially as businesses try to strengthen the role of marketing within the larger organization.

According to Tom Pepper, senior director of LinkedIn Marketing Solutions, EMEA and LATAM, “Marketers that can demonstrate cutting-edge skills in social media and digital marketing, and have the strategic prowess to build an all-weather marketing strategy and engage audiences across new mediums and channels, will be in demand in 2023.

    He continues by saying that companies will search for “smart marketers” with the abilities to assist them “remain nimble and stays top-of-mind for buyers to capitalize on growth prospects ahead” as firms continue to manage uncertainty.

    Likewise, he feels communication rates so highly since it is “required more than ever to help show the business benefit of marketing to internal stakeholders and enhance future budgets”.

    In 2023, marketing will rank among the most in-demand talents across all disciplines and roles as companies try to stay up with shifting consumer trends and consumer behavior.

    According to LinkedIn, marketing is in fact the ninth most in-demand talent for businesses as a whole. The most in-demand talent is management, which is followed in importance by communication, customer service, leadership, project management, research, and analytical abilities, with teamwork rounding out the top 10.

    The top 10 list of the most in-demand business talents include a significant representation of marketing and its associated fields. The sixth most sought-after business talent is marketing, ahead of finance but behind sales (which is ranked fifth) (eighth).

    Again, the top four positions in the rating are taken by management, communication, customer service, and leadership. Customer service is the most sought-after ability for sales jobs, followed by management and communication, while marketing is ranked fourth for sales professionals, which, according to LinkedIn, again reflects the present environment.

    According to LinkedIn, “no one is recruiting for ‘one position’ anymore; they’re hiring for the opportunity to learn and grow,” marketing also ranks ninth on the lists for project management and recruitment.

    According to LinkedIn’s own study on workplace culture, 93% of firms are worried about keeping their employees. In order to keep employees from leaving, 83% of organizations seek to develop a more people-centric culture.

    In 2023, 41% of organizations plan to increase their spending on employee learning and development as a result of this initiative and to make sure that workers have the necessary skills. This is the third-highest percentage during the previous seven years, but it is lower than the 48% cited in 2022.

    According to Marketing Week’s own Career and Pay Study, workers have recently changed jobs most frequently to develop new skills (26.3%) and to discover a new path, respectively, in marketing professions. A fifth (21.3%) of marketers claim that the company’s culture appealed to them.

    In the meanwhile, 16% claim that the epidemic caused them to reevaluate their objectives, 15.2% claim that their new business is more in line with their personal beliefs, 14.5% want flexible working, and 13.9% desired a move.

    A crucial instrument for digital marketing nowadays is social media. Social media provides companies with a strong approach to engaging with their target audience and marketing their goods or services thanks to its billions of users across a variety of platforms.
