Google’s New AI Tool Can Help In Writing Gmail And Docs Drafts For You
The search giant has done it again, as it’s currently testing generative writing and other AI features for its workspace apps. Google plans to bring new AI-powered tools to its suite of workspace apps. In a blog post, the search giant said that it’s starting by testing generative AI writing features in Gmail and Docs that will help users get started on the writing process.
Simply type a topic you’d like to write about, and a draft will instantly be generated for you,” reads Google’s post. “With your collaborative AI partner, you can continue to refine and edit, getting more suggestions as needed.”
The tool that google is suggesting can be used to get help while creating things like customized job descriptions or invitations for a party. The company is also currently exploring ways to incorporate AI tools into slides, sheet meets, and chats.
Google right now, is one of the many companies that are trying to improve their services by adding the latest tech and integrating its specialties into their company.
This is why they’re using generative AI capabilities in their services after Open AI’s famous AI Chat bot known as Chat GPT in late 2022.
Earlier this year, Microsoft also launched a new AI-powered Bing, while Meta is testing and experimenting with AI power integrated into WhatsApp and Messenger. Grammarly is also set to launch an AI feature that is designed to make email messages, social media posts, and more of this genre.
The new AI tools by Google will initially be available for use only to a “limited set of trusted users.” And Google said this in the blog post. The features are expected to start rolling out to testers in the coming weeks.
“When it comes to delivering the full potential of generative AI across Workspace, we’re just getting started,” Google said.
Google also introduced new AI tools for developers and businesses on Tuesday, including an application builder that will help companies launch their own versions of AI chatbots.
So google will soon be offering other ways to generate text and images using machine learning in its workspace, this move by Google is clearly to get them in the race of this new AI tech, and it’s a well thought attempt to catch up with their rivals such as Microsoft.
This is why Google has announced an array of different AI Based features for its various workspace apps, including Google docs, Gmail, sheets, and slides.
The features include new ways to generate, summarize and create text with AI in Google docs, the option to generate full emails in Gmail based on the user’s prompts or bullet points, and the ability to produce AI images, audio, and video to form presentations in slides.
Ever since the chatbot, ChatGPT arrived and Microsoft integrated AI into Bing, the search giant has been itching to launch a better or similar AI feature for their own search engine.
But Google is definitely racing ahead of itself, and although the company has announced a good amount of new features based on AI tech. They will be made available to a group of US-based “trusted testers” this month and we won’t be getting our hands on them till the months after the next month if everything goes according to Google’s plans.
Moreover, google explained that these features will be available sometime later in the year but didn’t specify when.
You can see below the list full of the features that Google has been talking about, and the ones that google says will be arriving soon this year,
- Reply, Draft, prioritize and Summarize your Gmail.
- Brainstorm, write, rewrite, and proofread in Google docs.
- Bringing your vision to life with auto-generated images, audio, and videos in Slides.
- Go from raw data to insights and analysis via their features called auto-completion, formula generation, and contextual categorization in sheets.
- Users will be able to generate new backgrounds and they will also be able to capture notes in Google Meet.
- They will be able to Enable Workflow for getting things done in Chat.
