Google AI-powered note-taking app NotebookLM is now officially rolled out in the US. It is a game changer in note-taking for the users.
It is an experimental note-taking app that is powered with AI power that helps users take notes, summarize them, and search for particular information based on the content.
According to the company, this latest release contains several new features that use the Google Gemini Pro AI model to help understanding and reasoning with the documents. With the latest release, we are witnessing a big stride towards AI-powered document handling and creative support.
The NotebookLM name was first unveiled at Google in July 2023, and since then, it has been undergoing significant developments. It is officially available for users who are older than 18 and above. It will also be launched in other countries very soon.
Google Lab editorial Director Steven Johnson and Product Manager Raiza Martin stated that when you upload a document to NotebookLM, it will turn into an expert instantly and assist you in different projects and can give the answers according to the provided resources.
There were a lot of upgrades and now NotebookLM can analyze more than 20 documents and up to 200 k words per document.
This AI-powered NotebookLM can summarize the imported documents, make the key points of the documents, and even answer the queries of your note-taking sources. Moreover, you can also transform these notes into other formats. The flexibility in creating different document formats is a game changer in the professional arena.
NotebooksLM also offers interactive user interfaces. After compiling all notes, NotebookLM will automatically suggest formats like a study guide, outline, etc. You can also transform these notes to desired formats like email, newsletter, outline of script, etc.
Moreover, this AI-powered Notebook works as a smart assistant and offers you different suggestions based on your actions on the app. Like if you’re writing a note, then Google’s Notebook will offer you tools that will help you write better. Cool, right?
That’s not all; you can also save the the Notebook provided smart tips, so you can not forget them and easily use them in the future.
You can also share your notes with your peers easily. If you want NotebookLM to focus on a particular source during your chat, it can also do it without any hindrance.
The amazing feature is that it only takes information from the custom data set and makes sure to make it super relevant for you. And you don’t drown yourself in irrelevant information on the internet.
However the downside of this AI-powered tool is that it cannot analyze or browse web links, even it cannot analyze the links that are provided by the users in their notes. Instead, you need to do this manually. Save the PDFs of web pages or copy the text and paste it into Google Docs. Now Notebook can analyze and reference that information for you.
If you are concerned about privacy, Google also covers it for you. They mention that personal data will not be used to train the NotebookLM. Your resources will be confidential unless you’re willing to share your information.
