These days, iPhone users complain that they have been facing an issue while they are typing. Due to this glitch, the app switcher appears suddenly and redirects their users to another app while they are typing.
A huge surge of complaints on the Apple community forum and Reddit related to a prevalent bug in iOS. People voiced their grievances on how they were kicked out unexpectedly from the Messages, Notes, and other apps while engaged in typing. These issues particularly happen during time-sensitive tasks such as composing emails, and notes adding further frustration for users who are in a hurry to finish their tasks.
The app switcher is the iPhone functionality in which users can easily switch between the apps. It is accessible through a swipe-up gesture on FaceID mode or a double press of the button on older versions of iPhones. When it is activated, it provides users comprehensive views of all active apps and switches between them easily without the need to close any of them. This functionality ensures that all active apps are running continuously in the background. It makes the app switching so much more convenient, preserves the user progress and enhances the overall user experience.
Notably, this issue has been reported to occur across all versions of iOS 17, including the latest 17.1.2 release. There are also reports where users have exchanged their iPhones, but they still encounter the same glitch on the replacement devices. This determines that Apple is not fully aware of this issue at the moment or they are yet to devise a solution to address this persistent typing-related bug.
The temporary solution to this iOS 17 typing bug is to turn off the Reachability until Apple finds a solution. To turn off the Reachability, go to the Settings menu and navigate to Accessibility. Under the ‘Physical and Motor’, choose Touch. Find the Reachability switch and turn it off.
Users have reported success in using this method. The effectiveness of these methods for all users remains uncertain. But still, it is mostly a recognized and suitable option available at present.
