Is GPT 4 Better Than Its Predecessor?
Open AI has successfully updated the technology that their famous chatbot was reliant upon, Chat GPT. With the release of GPT 4, we got to know that it’s more accurate however, it’s still reported to “make things up”. Which is a huge flaw of the chatbot.
It has improved since its previous version and it’s an expert on an array of subjects even amazing doctors about the knowledge that it possesses, and the fact that it tells you everything you need to know about a particular subject is what’s wowing people. It can provide you with medical advice, it can describe images and it’s also close to telling jokes that are a little bit funny.
But we also got to realize very soon that the long-rumored chat GPT 4 still has a few quirks and some of the same habitual mistakes that baffled researchers in their respective fields, this is when chat GPT was introduced.
Though it’s an awfully good test taker, the system is, far from exceeding human intelligence, however, we also know that it learns to be more precise with time.
When Chris Nicholson, who is an AI expert and a partner with the venture capital firm page one venture, first used GPT 4, he told the bot that he was an English speaker with absolutely no knowledge of Spanish.
He asked for a syllabus that could teach him the basics, and the bot did so by providing him with a well-organized and detailed syllabus. Mr. Nicholson did the same and asked for help from the previous version of GPT as well, which was GPT 3.5.
it provided him with a good syllabus but its suggestions were more general, and almost less helpful than the new version’s syllabus. This is why Mr. Nicholson explained that “It has broken through the precision barrier,” Mr. Nicholson said. “It is including more facts, and they are very often right.”
The same was the case with Oren Etzioni, he is an AI researcher and professor, and when he first tried this bot, he asked it a straightforward question.
The Question Was, What Is The Relation Between Oren Etzioni And Eli Etzioni?
GPT 3.5 told him that their relationship is with brothers who are both computer scientists.
GPT 4 gave him an answer explaining that they are father and son from which Oren Etzioni is a computer scientist meanwhile Eli Etzioni is an entrepreneur.
The previous answer was wrong, and this also shows us that the new bot has gained a lot more precision than before. However it’s not perfectly precise yet, and it still makes mistakes as the bot went on to say “Oren Etzioni is a computer scientist and the CEO of the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence (AI2), while Eli Etzioni is an entrepreneur.”
Most of this information is true, but I didn’t realize that Oren Etzioni had stepped down from the position of a CEO of the company, as the bot’s training ended in August and Mr. Oren Etzioni stepped down after that, still the bot should’ve learned of this information.
The bot can also explain images with impressive detail now, with the update, this bot is now capable of responding to images text as well. Greg Brockman, who was Open AI’s president and co-founder demonstrated how the AI could explain the Hubble space telescope image with immense detail.
The description of that image went on for several paragraphs. Due to its analyzing precision, it can also answer questions about the image as well.
For example, if given an image of the inside of your fridge, it can give you details on what you can make from the ingredients in your fridge at the moment.
Open AI is yet to release this update for public use, but a company named, My Eyes has already used this version of GPT to build services that could give a more precise and more detailed idea of the images encountered on the internet or snapped in the real world, which goes to show that it has improved by a big margin and it has added a lot of specialties to it.
