Today we have selected Joel Sellentine to take his Interview. He is the CEO Of KARMA jack Digital Marketing.
First of all, how are you and your team doing in these COVID-19 times? Tell us about you, your career, how you founded or joined this company. How does your company innovate? How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
COVID-19 is an awful time in the world, but fortunately, our team is safe and healthy as we all work remotely. We also knew it was vital to help businesses around the country stay afloat and eventually thrive by pivoting to a bigger online presence, so we went into hyperdrive to help as many of them as possible. People are on their screens now more than ever, which means the right kind of advertising is wildly effective. It also means navigating the digital market as it floods with more business can be overwhelming. We make the path from awareness to sales or leads as short as possible and eliminate the barriers so we can grow together with our clients. We do whatever we can to help businesses grow.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons?
At first, it was a difficult choice, but expanding our team eventually became a no-brainer. I’ve thought a lot about it over the years. How could we be more efficient and help more businesses? The fix was growing our own company to a point where it made sense to leap. Many people do too much too quickly, and I wasn’t going to set us back with blind excitement. So we hired new amazing people with their own specialties to round out the team and immediately began seeing massive results. Everyone was able to take on more but also have more room to breathe in the process, which is, of course, great for brain power and efficiency. Now we can all focus on what we do best while I focus on the growth of KARMA jack.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
Even before the pandemic, we’ve connected with clients around the country over ZOOM. It has eliminated the need to travel, so now we can line up calls back-to-back with anyone and everyone. We recently switched to Asana for our task-based work management, which has been an essential tool as we continue to expand.
Who are your competitors?
Our biggest competitor is traditional advertising. We consult with companies all the time who are spending tens of thousands of dollars on traditional advertising with no trackable results. I spoke to a roofing company yesterday that spent $82,000 last year with a coupon mailer company and only received about 100 leads.
My jaw hit the floor. And when I told him he should be getting over 1,300 leads for that amount of money, his jaw hit the floor.
And how do you plan to stay in the game?
KARMA jack is a profitable, revenue growth-focused company. We are continuously testing new platforms for our clients to keep on top of the latest trends. When we find a program or method that works, we immediately share that information with all of our clients. This keeps things fresh and relevant. As we grow, our clients grow and vice versa.
Your final thoughts
We’ve found that maintaining a positive outlook and focusing on helping others benefits not only our clients but our staff. We work very hard, but never burn ourselves out. There’s just something extremely valuable about compassion that adds to the big picture and I think most people miss that mark.
