Today we have selected Cedric Savarese to take his interview. He is the Founder, and CEO of FormAssembly.
FormAssembly Bio:
FormAssembly is fueled by a commitment to help its customers collect data in an efficient, secure, and compliant manner. The powerful, secure data collection platform enables organizations to take control of data collection while maintaining stewardship, collaborate amongst teams, streamline outdated processes, and drive essential business initiatives.
First of all, how are you and your team doing in these COVID-19 times?
We’re doing well, and we are in good spirits. It helped that we were already a fully remote company before the pandemic, so we didn’t need to make any adjustments. We were able to focus on our customers, many of whom were on the frontline of the pandemic.
This led us to launch our COVID-19 Assistance Program, which was a great source of pride for all of us at FormAssembly. This program enables dozens of organizations involved in the fight against COVID-19 to access our secure, powerful data collection platform pro bono.
Tell us about you, your career, and how you founded or joined this company.
My background is in Engineering. I studied and worked in Paris, France, before moving to the United States in 2002, where I worked in IT for a university. This experience, coupled with an earlier stint at a short-lived startup, led me to start FormAssembly.
We’ve bootstrapped the company for many years and eventually grew it to where we are today. Now, FormAssembly is one of the fastest-growing private companies in America, and in 2021, it was recognized on the Inc. 5000 list for the fourth time in a row.
How does your company innovate?
Our goal is to power our customers’ most critical business processes. This challenge provides us with unique insights and opportunities to create new solutions for our customers. The easiest part is to listen to their needs, but we must prioritize and deliver, so we invest a lot of time, effort, and resources in scaling our team.
We’ve just released our most anticipated product development to date with FormAssembly Workflow. This new product enables our users to build entire data collection processes on the secure and trusted platform that our customers have come to depend on.
How the Coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
As a remote SaaS company, we weren’t as heavily impacted by the pandemic as other customer-facing organizations. Given we had remote practices already in place and were used to communicating with teammates and customers remotely, we didn’t have to make business-altering adjustments to our existing practices.
However, we did understand that tremendous shifts were happening to our customers and their industries as a whole, including healthcare, nonprofits, higher education, and beyond. Because of this, we wanted to help by introducing the COVID-19 Assistance Program, which provided pro bono data collection solutions for organizations on the front of the pandemic.
Through the program, we provided payment relief for plan holders, partner discounts and direct help to their customers, and increased Implementation Services. Throughout the experience, we’ve maintained our core value of making business processes easier for organizations, especially in unprecedented times.
How did your software serve as a tool for other companies navigating this crisis?
Organizations relied on FormAssembly for online data collection in a variety of situations. For instance, the University of Florida in Gainesville used FormAssembly to develop new processes as the admissions team relied on online forms for emergency financial assistance for their students.
Given the surge in medical care, we assisted University College London Hospital in their immediate need to increase their number of account users and develop secure, PHI-protected forms that could be used beyond the pandemic. The California Health Corps also used FormAssembly to mobilize healthcare staff throughout the state to assist in areas heavily impacted by COVID-19.
Who are your competitors, and how do you plan to stay in the game?
We don’t think too much about our competitors. We have our plan, our customers to serve, and a huge market to go after. My biggest focus is scaling the team and strengthening our culture. Staying in the game is about creating an environment where people want to work and a product that organizations want to use.
Final thoughts:
Given our ability to navigate the pandemic with no interruptions to our business, we continued to focus on product innovation. In November 2021, we introduced FormAssembly Workflow, a visual no-code process-building interface that allows users to easily combine FormAssembly forms, emails, integrations, and more.
The emergence of this solution stems from what was already in the works. Still, its purpose was amplified as we moved throughout the pandemic, championed the digital wave, and ultimately delivered new solutions directly responding to customer needs.
