What are the current services Kyla is offering to the industry – Post-COVID?
Kyla offers a complete COVID solution for the workplace that includes proprietary software, onsite COVID-19 testing, and a team of physicians, nurses, and lab techs, to deliver the most comprehensive pandemic solution on the market.
Today, Kyla continues to provide thousands of COVID-19 tests to employees, airline passengers, and individuals each day. While the COVID-19 vaccines have held up nicely against the different variants, and we remain encouraged by the new daily case trends, we are not living in a “Post-COVID” world. With only 46% of the total US population fully vaccinated, the threat of COVID-19 remains very real.
As we look to the future, we continue to work on our pre-COVID mission of helping people get healthy and live longer. Kyla has developed a Personal Longevity Program. Patients can measure their overall health through hospital-grade labs, work with physicians and Kyla’s AI to identify risks, and utilize the Kyla mobile application to create an exciting lifestyle around healthy habits and achievable goals.
How are you and your team doing in these COVID-19 transitions with vaccinations and government guidelines?
As we have since the beginning, Kyla monitors the ever-changing guidelines and regulations daily. While the vaccinations provided a sense of relief for our front-line nurses who interact with hundreds of patients each day, each front-line worker still utilizes full PPE and adheres to CDC guidelines.
How was Kyla founded, and what is its current purpose, along with your leadership in the company?
In 2018, I co-founded and became the CEO of Kyla. Kyla’s mission is to help people get healthy and live longer. Kyla will achieve this by expanding access to labs and tests beyond the traditional standard practice of medicine, developing the very best diagnostic and prognostic AI, and providing patients with content and tools to create an exciting lifestyle around health.
What is Kyla doing to innovate?
Kyla has developed a robust diagnostic and prognostic AI engine, which can help physicians visualize risk like no other system before. Our mobile application also strikes a unique balance between the facilitation of medical services and content around healthy lifestyles. Kyla gives users the ability to access medical care and then learn, explore, and set lifestyle goals all in the same app.
How did the pandemic affect your business, and how are you coping with all the changes?
In early 2020, the team at Kyla was busy working to create our personal longevity program through our mobile application. Suddenly in early March 2020, the world was forever changed. The Kyla team paused all projects to focus our resources on the COVID-19 crisis. We listened to members of our community and began to focus on what tools they would need to feel safe and comfortable in the workplace. The team worked around the clock to build our COVID-19 solution. Once our COVID response was up and running, we refocused on the Personal Longevity Program once more.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Early in the pandemic, I recognized that the situation was completely out of control. As soon as COVID testing was developed, our team worked to secure testing through various laboratory partners with great relationships. Our ability to secure testing and rapidly develop software for employers and employees to utilize was our key to success.
Had we not identified how much of a disruption COVID would become and not made strategic moves to secure tests and reprioritize software development, I don’t believe Kyla would be here today.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
Kyla’s most valuable tool is our ability to stay agile. From the executive level to our nursing staff, the organization is built on the principles of flexibility. Whenever priorities have shifted during the crisis, I’ve made it a point to communicate why to every team member. Our employees are very proud of their work every day and the great impact it has on society.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Other urgent care chains. We have been working diligently on building a world-class primary care program driven by AI. Through that experience alone, I’m confident we will be successful. Kyla’s real opportunity for long-term success will lie in our ability to help patients develop and maintain healthy lifestyles in the mobile application.
What is something you would like people to know about Kyla moving forward?
We are so proud of our work so far and to be part of the COVID-19 response. As we look to the future, we can’t wait to continue to apply the principles of agility and innovation to our core offerings.
