Today we have selected Joe Gallucci to take his interview. He is the Co-Founder Of PayFrog.
First of all, how are you and your team doing in these COVID-19 times?
We are healthy and fully operational.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded or joined this company?
I founded this company in 2010 after working in the industry for a year. I got started in this line of work during the great recession because I saw a need for people and businesses to cut costs and save money during challenging economic times. 12 years later, many businesses have once again had difficult times because of COVID-19, but we can help them by reducing their credit card processing fees and boosting their bottom line.
How does your company innovate?
First, we focus on the needs of every client. When we see a client ask for some product or service or feature that we don’t offer, we begin looking for a solution. The solution may initially be just to fit 1 client, but then it becomes added to our toolkit to help future clients. Secondly, we maintain a culture of continuous improvement. We are always striving to get better and pursue excellence in every area. Each new idea, business concept, strategy, or service that we develop gets implemented into our company’s business processes.
How the Coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
Initially, there was a decline in revenue when the shut-downs were in place because businesses weren’t seeing customers. But the small business economy bounced back strong. It was encouraging to see the resilience of these businesses and how they adapted to reach their customers and adjust their business operations to keep moving forward.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
We decided to choose Faith over fear. That choice helped us to be a source of encouragement for many small business owners. It also helped bring us calm in making business decisions using the facts alone amidst all the hysteria.
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
Back in March 2020, we pivoted as well to begin selling a more sanitary “Zero-Touch Terminal.” Fortunately for us, most of our clients already had a method of accepting contactless or online payments because we’ve been promoting omnichannel sales and newer processing methods since our inception.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
It may be shorter to write out a list of those who are not our competitors! At times it seems like every bank or tech company will jump into the market and give a shot at merchant services. Some are unsuccessful and bow out, while others hit their stride in a particular niche to varying degrees of success and stick around. At PayFrog, we are a small player in the industry as a whole, and we offer a highly customized, white-glove service. We have strong relationships with our clients and offer expert advice. The takeaway is that no matter who our competitors are, there will always be a niche carved out for the company that values hard work, integrity, relationships, reputation, and excellence.
