Microsoft Brings Its New Ai-Powered Bing To The Windows 11 Taskbar
Microsoft has officially decided to release a big update to windows 11 today, they will include the company’s new AI-powered Bing search directly to their taskbar. This new update will offer quick access to Microsoft’s Bing chat feature alongside a bunch of other new features. Windows 11 is also getting an improvement update on its widgets, it will be getting a better touch mode, a screen recording feature, tabs inside notepad, and more.
The new Bing integration in the new update is a surprise to many users as it is a surprise and an un-called-for addition in the latest update and Microsoft hasn’t been testing this with window insiders. A new Bing icon will appear within the search box of the taskbar. Microsoft is highlighting the chat’s answers while the chat answers will not be available directly within the search flyout, windows 11 users will be able to quickly start Bing chat in the edge from here, given that they have access to the Bing preview.
“We’re reimagining what I think of as an increasingly AI-powered Windows for the future,” says Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s head of consumer marketing, in an interview with The Verge. “This is a very important feature, today the search box is used by over half a billion people on a regular basis.”
More than a million people are now testing the new Bing preview in 169 different countries and windows chief Panos Panay says in a blog post that, “soon hundreds of millions of Windows 11 users can get access to this incredible new technology to search, chat, answer questions and generate content from the right on their Windows taskbar.”
This goes to show that Microsoft is planning to expand the new Bing preview.
The overall expansion of Bing Chat to the windows 11 taskbar will be coming just a week after Microsoft unveiled the same mode to Bing on mobile and in skype conversations. Microsoft is also getting ready to demo its AI in the Office Apps soon.
This new windows 11 update isn’t just about Bing, Microsoft is also previewing the opening of their Phone Link app for iOS, this means that iPhone users will now be able to link their devices to windows, this will include access to sending and receiving messages and it will also include iMessage, calls, and notifications. Microsoft is also looking forward to improving its widgets system in windows 11 to include third-party options from Meta and Spotify.
The touch experience for touch-supporting devices that are using windows as their OS, now has better touch support than ever thanks to a new taskbar especially optimized for tablets. If you are in possession of a device like the Surface Pro, then disconnecting a keyboard will not collapse the taskbar which will make it more compact and easier to use due to the simplified taskbar designed for touch.
Windows 11 is also finally receiving an official screen recording tool, which means that you can now finally say goodbye to all the third-party screen recording apps you have installed on your device, and you can simply use the official tool made by windows itself. Xbox game pass has offered the ability to record applications and the snipping tool now includes screen recording which will enable you to capture an entire screen or crops for different apps.
Microsoft is also improving its built-in Team experience to allow people to preview their videos more easily and access conversations even easier. The quick assist app in windows 11 has also been redesigned to make it easier to help friends and family you might need to provide technical assistance. If you use the notepad app often, then you will probably be pleased to hear that tab support is part of this Windows 11 update. Microsoft is also including the new Braille display support, and this will be bringing its voice access feature out of preview, alongside new toggles to improve energy efficiency for laptops.
