Today we have selected Nor Newman To take his Interview. He is the CEO Of Movadex.
First of all, how are you and your team doing in these COVID-19 times?
Despite all the hardships, we are stronger than ever! We are growing, and collaborating with people all over the world, helping them make their projects come to life. Our team is doing well, and we are doing everything that we can to stay healthy. It is important to understand that the virus is still there, and it is our responsibility to wear masks and use all the precautions to stop it from spreading. At Movadex, we believe that the future of all the people is in our — every human being’s hands.
Tell us about you, your career, how you founded or joined this company.
I started 7 years ago, roughly. I was always interested in the programming and IT industry in general. I didn’t even notice when something that I just had a passion for became my future, my career. I think that the breaking point was when I founded and developed Uprise — a currency converter with image recognition. I won in a local competition, and everything clicked. I had an amazing opportunity, and I took it. It was hard, but it was worth it. The one most important thing that I’ve learned from my past experiences is that effort will always be rewarded, in one way or another. It is crucial to never give up, never stop doing something you have a passion for.
How does your company innovate?
We think out of the box. Our company has a number of young individuals, but don’t be fooled by their age, they all are accomplished professionals with years of experience. Vice versa, their young age makes them free from all the rules, regulations, and whatnots. When a client comes to us, of course, they have their requirements and we do everything by the book. But that’s not it. We always sprinkle that little bits of magic here and there, add our unique touch that makes everything that we do unique. You must innovate and don’t be afraid of making bold moves — and you will prevail.
How the coronavirus pandemic affects your business, and how are you coping?
I can’t say that we are `coping`. Since the beginning of the pandemic, some of our staff just started working from home. Also, we have since hired some people who work from other parts of the country. And you know what, we don’t even notice, because we are good at communication. We always come to each other if we have questions or need help, moreover, we encourage you to do that because you don’t have to deal with everything alone. We are family, not just a team, and we strongly believe that it is what makes us stay strong throughout all the tough times.
Did you have to make difficult choices, and what are the lessons learned?
Sure. Life won’t be the same or even interesting without them.
The hardest choices are the ones that concern our team members. We value and appreciate the team spirit, enthusiasm, critical thinking, and partnership. If we find someone showing toxic behavior, we need to make decisions as to how we see our future with the employee.
As on the side of upper management, we have monthly strategy calls during which we make crucial decisions for our company. As we’ve grown and expanded our reach, we had an overwhelming amount of investors willing to invest or acquire our team. We declined all the offers as of now as we want to independently reach our milestones and grow the company in ways that are in Movadex’s best interest
What specific tools, software, and management skills are you using to navigate this crisis?
All the tools that we use allow us to stay connected with each other and manage our schedules in a quick and efficient way. Our tasks are always on Asana, and our managers are overseeing their completion every day. We practice self-discipline, so everybody adds their tasks on their own, and completes them at the end of them, when they are finished.
Times like these require a lot of effort and professionalism from our managers. I am proud of them, because no matter what, they are always here for the staff, and they are always ready to listen and talk. These are such simple things, but so many people fail to do that properly.
Who are your competitors? And how do you plan to stay in the game?
Currently, the market is overflowing with IT companies, it is not a secret. We strongly believe in our skills, and that one thing differentiates us from 80% of other companies. Remember how I told you about a magic touch on every project that we work with? That is how we stay in the game!
Your final thoughts
First and foremost, thank you for such an awesome opportunity. I am more than happy to share my vision and experience with the world. The only thing that I would like to say to the readers is this: don’t give up on your dreams. Stay strong, study hard, and work even harder. No matter your age, you always have a chance to become a better you.
Stay safe,
