Meanwhile, apple music is one of the best music streaming services for apple users. Once the user has to subscribe to apple music and then he can enjoy up to 90 million pieces of music from the world on iPhone iPad or MacBook. But in the recent couple of years, many IOS device users complain that specific music is not available in their country or region. The user came across the error message that says “this song is not currently available in your country” even if you have purchased the song you will not be able to play it because of certain rules and restrictions in that specific country or region.
Sometimes apple music is a hell of an unstable streaming service. For some of the users, this error message appears when they add new songs to their favorites playlist and even sometimes there is no apparent pattern and the error message blocks random songs.
Disabling your device’s cellular data or the recognized Wi-Fi off and then turning it back on could help to fix the error in its initial stage. Directly closing or relaunching the apple music app is the other way to restore the app in a normal pattern but if the error persists then go ahead and solve the error by using below mentioned ways.
Why Songs Are Not Available?
Not Licensed Song:
Its clearly impossible for the users to access all types of songs around the world in Apple Music App whether the user is from the U.K. or the U.S. Japan, or Canada. The music availability mostly depends on a country’s user preference, artist activities, domestic law, and most importantly the licensing deals and record labels of the music.
Before the launch of Apple Music, there was an iTunes app through which you can buy tracks or albums and you will always keep full ownership of the items you purchased. But it’s totally the opposite in Apple Music because it won’t let you keep ownership of the song you are subscribing to. Even if there are any changes made to the music licensing agreement it will directly affect the music availability as well.
There is another main reason for music not available in the country is that the specific album or music or artist that is banned or blocked by the country of your residence.
Music Database:
If you want to import your own music files to apple music library such as MP3 files purchased from another platform, ripped from a CD, or even downloaded from some online websites, it’s easy to get the job done with the iTunes desktop client. Once added your music files will be scanned and matched to a song that already exists in apple’s own database. But if in case the cloud matching failed, you will see the cloud status show as a dotted line or an ineligible icon
Dotted Icon Means:
- The song is still waiting to get matched and uploaded
- The original music file can not be found on your devices so it can not be matched
- The song can not exist in Apple Music Catalog
Ineligible Icon Means:
It means the music file is ineligible for uploading to the iCloud music library because they don’t meet the Apple Music synchronized criteria. According to Apple’s restrictions and rules songs larger than 200MB are marked as Not Eligible.
A Bug To Apple Music Software:
Apple’s latest IOS not only gives new features and fixes bugs but it may also bring unknown bugs to your current apps such as apple music or ITUNES. These unknown bugs in the software create certain issues and errors to upload the song or playing any music in the region. These bugs create the songs to get banned or stopped.
How To Fix The Error?
Apple or android always automatically updates its app to fix some bugs so you could get a direct or easy solution after upgrading the IOS system or any android system. After updating your IOS you may no longer experience the “this song is not currently available in your country or region” error prompt. You can fix this error by using the below-mentioned steps.

The users complain that they previously played the song on Apple music, but suddenly the server crashes and it doesn’t play anymore because it’s no longer available in your country or region. The first way to fix this error is by disabling your iPhone or Android VPN connection if you have any.
This is due to the regional licensing or any distributional policy that some songs are not available to the selective countries. If the song is not licensed to the country your VPN connection is routed to, then that error will show up whenever you try to play it.
You can easily disable the VPN from the in-built app or from the iPhone or Android setting menu. Simply go to the setting menu and toggle off the VPN.
Now close Apple Music App then reopen it after a couple of minutes and try playing the affected songs.

Deleting the song that is affected and existed in the library and re-adding the songs to Apple Music App may resolve the problem but this will be only useful if the error pop-up for the particular song, not the whole library. After deleting the song close the app for a couple of minutes. To do this process the user needs to simply click and hold the song and select “delete from library”. Finally, select delete song on the confirmation prompt to proceed.
Then completing the process wait for the app to settle down refresh the app and now re-add the deleted song to your library and check whether it will play or not.

IOS boasts the feature that automatically downloads songs, books, and other purchases from apple to all the devices connected to your APPLE ID. Coincidentally, re-enabling this feature for apple music helped to resolve this issue for some of the users in some countries but not for the overall users around the globe. Close the app and follow the steps written below.

- Under the automatic download section, toggle on music.

- Navigate to the bottom of the page and click on the sign-out option.
- Now again enter your ID on the device and follow the steps shown in the prompt to sign in again.
- Now check that the particular song plays and whether the issue is rectified or not.
Update Your Device:
Might be this error is because of the bugs in the software. It’s very common that every device needs an update because when the updated version is available in the market then the older version will face the bugs-related issue. So, if this is the case then update your device to its latest version for this you have to follow the steps mentioned below.
- Open the settings of your device
- Navigate to the general settings
- Tap on the software update option
- Navigate to the “download and install” to update your device to its latest version.
Force Quit App And Restart The Device:
Your device may face trouble loading your Apple Music Songs. If that is the case, then force closing all applications and restart your device. This act of forcing your device to stop all processes could solve some software issues. After restarting and relaunching the program it will connect to the Apple Music Service a second time.
Sometimes, it’s innumerable reasons that why this regional restrictions error pops up when you play songs on Apple Music. You can try the above-mentioned steps but the problem is difficult to fix sometimes. The same steps apply if the song has been temporarily pulled off by Apple Music App.
