Whatsapp has been working on the scheduling feature since October 2023.
A recent report from March explained how the new feature will operate and highlighted the upgrades Meta has made to event planning since last year.
Now it seems that WhatsApp is ready to start testing the feature as it has appeared in the latest WhatsApp beta for some beta testers on Android.
Through this feature, you can create new events within a community.
Normally a typical community consists of thousands of people. This event scheduling feature will make the event organization more manageable.
It is a useful feature for users who need to schedule online meetings via voice or video call.
This option will appear in the WhatsApp attachment panel within a community chat. Here, you can enter the name, date, time, and also location as optional and also tell the type of the meeting (whether it will be voiced or video call) to initiate the meeting with ease.
Once this event is created all members present in the community will receive the notification simultaneously. Then they read and accepted this invitation.
If the event planner needs to modify the details then he can change the details later. And community members will again get the notification of this invitation who accepted this before.
Events that will be created in the community will be accessible in the group info and also on community pages.
This will be helpful for event planners as it also makes it easy for the community members to stay updated about the latest and other planned events.
Moreover, community members will also get a reminder when the event is going to start.
Community members will also get the Add to Calendar button that will add the event to your calendar.
This feature will be present in regular group chats, as it is reported that regular Whatsapp groups might also get this event scheduling within an app which could be a valuable feature. However, the execution of this feature in regular groups is still not planned.
But for now, this feature is only available for testing for some WhatsApp beta users that are running the 2.24.9.20.
Moreover, this release is limited to certain groups and you might not get this feature for now even if you have the same version installed in your Android.
But we hope that this feature will be present for all users in the coming weeks.
